Because two-step verification is intended to protect your information, you cannot opt out.
Soon, when you access your Colonial Life account, the system will automatically redirect you to a new login page.
- After you enter your current user ID and password, you will receive a one-time passcode (OTP) by email to verify that you are really you. Important -- once we send you the OTP you have 30 minutes to enter it online. If you do not enter the OTP within the allowed time, simply start over by accessing your account again and we will send a new OTP.
- On the “Let’s verify you” screen, enter the passcode you received via email and select “Submit.”
- You will now be logged in. If you are using the same browser and device and have not cleared your browsing history, you will only need to re-authenticate once every 15 days.
One of the main benefits of two-step verification is the improvement of the user experience for secure logins. Instead of being asked to provide multiple verification codes or passwords each time you log in, you will only be asked for one additional code.
Two-step verification is an online data protection process that verifies your identity and protects your account information, even if your login ID and password have been compromised. A unique passcode is emailed to you when you log in to ensure no one else can access your account.
